We have over 30 years’ experience in the party industry and
we have witnessed a lot of changes to the sector. We have also seen how
consumer awareness has become forefront over the last few years. We are doing
our best to take this feedback on board and make the appropriate changes to our
products as well as how we operate as a business.
As big celebrators, we weren’t willing to forgo our beloved earth for beautiful partyware, so we’ve done our best over the years to consider our footprint. The last few months have been full of research and learning to better our position.
We have found the presence of PV lining in most coloured paper products on the market. This is to protect food and human contact from toxic ink used to colour the paper. The downfall of this is that it prohibits the product from biodegrading and decomposing at a quicker rate..
After much concern from our customers, we have found a new innovative water-based ink that contains no toxic and harmful ingredients depleting the need for PV lining.
Without the PV lining, our products are 100% paper therefore recyclable and the more sustainable choice over plastic.
Plastic has been such a prominent material in the party world. It was very challenging to find a sustainable solution but having invested into higher quality materials from the beginning, we were able to get tested with the Testing Service Organization TUV Thüringen of Germany to verify our plasticware as reusable.
Our plastic items are dish washer safe. Wash, rinse and dry them on normal cycle at 65 degrees for 120 minutes and they’re clean.
We know everyone enjoys the convenience of plastic products, but we urge you to be mindful and re-use where you can. A bit of effort here and there, will make leaps and bounds for our kids and the earth that they will grow up on.
There are a myriad of ways of reusing them. Fun art projects for the kids are sprawled all over the internet using cups, plates and cutlery.
Five Star is a member of the Pro Environment
PEBA was formed in Australia in July 2017 to be an advocacy body to promote positive changes in balloon industry practices, community education, corporate governance and to be a consultative body for legislative policy relating to balloons. – PEBA
In accordance with regulations:
· We promote the correct disposal of balloons.
· We are against the release of balloons into the air as we cannot guarantee where they will land. The correct disposal is crucial so that the latex can decompose.
We’ll be consistently trying to stay on top of trends, consumer behaviour and considerations when creating new products. We promise to always go above and beyond, we hope you can join us on our movement.
